What does an engineering apprentice do?
As an apprentice engineer you may find yourself working on the following projects:
- cutting, bending or welding metal objects
- reading and interpreting drawings
- setting and operating machinery such as drills, lathes and mills
An engineering apprenticeship might you suit if you:
- are practical and good with your hands
- enjoy working with hand tools and machinery
- find solutions for problems
- have good maths skills

MEM30219 – Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade
MEM31922 – Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade
This is the official trade qualification for electricians in Australia. It is a nationally recognised qualification which means that it is valid in all states of Australia. The qualification requires both on-the-job and structured (trade school) off-the-job training.
Duration
Engineering apprenticeships with AGA usually take around 4 years to complete and involve both on-the-job work experience (with a host employer) and trade school training (delivered at no cost by AGA at one of our training facilities).
