The Victorian Government has launched new training and support measures to ensure women are part of Victoria’s transition to a clean and efficient energy future.

The program encourages women to take up electrical or plumbing apprenticeships in the Solar industry.

As an employer, you’ll receive a significant discount on the cost of employing your apprentice for the first two years of their training.

What is the Solar Victoria Apprenticeships for Women program?

AGA and Solar Victoria are working together to boost the number of women in the residential solar, heating, ventilation and air-conditioning industry.

AGA is also receiving funding from Solar Victoria to offer apprenticeships in mechanical services plumbing as part of our Home Heating and Cooling Upgrades program.

These measures will help ensure our state can meet the ongoing demand for skilled workers in the renewable and clean energy sector.

AGA is looking for employers from across Victoria who are keen to lead the industry and take on an apprentice in the Solar Victoria Apprenticeships for Women program. 

 

What’s included?

AGA will support you and your apprentice throughout their training. You’ll have a dedicated Field Officer to ensure things run smoothly and you have someone you can reach out to if you or your apprentice need assistance or advice.

AGA covers the following for your apprentice:

  • All tuition fees and training materials
  • We’ll pay for required tickets such as Elevated work platform and Working at heights
  • AGA provides all PPE
  • A dedicated Field Officer to support you and your apprentice

 

What’s involved?

Women of all ages and types of experience are welcome to apply. Successful applicants will undertake a full-time, four-year apprenticeship in one of these trades:

  • UEE30820 — Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician
  • CPC32420 — Certificate III in Plumbing

They will also have the opportunity to become an A-Grade Electrician.
