Women in Trades — Employer Program
Get on board the Women in Trades pre-apprenticeship program
As an employer, you will know how tough it is finding qualified tradespeople with the current skills shortage across Australia.
In many male-dominated industries, women are showing they have the mettle and the capability to be valuable members of a trades-based workforce.
Our Women in Trades program is designed to give women who are keen to forge a career in trades the opportunity to get their foot in the door.
About the program
AGAs Women in Trades program is a free, 8-week work program running at AGAs Deer Park and Warragul Training Centres.
Participants learn basic skills in carpentry, electrical and plumbing to see first-hand what it’s like to work in these trades — including one week of work experience.
This is where you come in!
What are the benefits for your business?
We invite you to register your business to take on a Women in Trades participant.
There is no obligation for you to offer an apprenticeship, however, if they are a good fit, we can arrange this for you.
You provide the workplace — AGA supplies everything else
Your enthusiastic work experience student will arrive at your workplace fully kitted up with work boots, PPE, a valid White Card and basic training. All you need to do is give them a fantastic week of seeing how great a career in the trades can be!
By the way, an AGA Field Officer will be available any time to make sure everything goes smoothly for you and your student.
Who is the program for?
We have invited women of all ages to apply. School leavers, women seeking a career change, and those who’ve been out of the workforce are all eligible. No prior experience is needed.
To register, complete the form below and AGA will be in touch.
