Working in Solar
VU22744 – Work safely in the solar industry
This course ensures workers have the skills and knowledge required for the installation of Photovoltaic (PV) systems and solar water systems.
These will typically be electricians, plumbers, apprentices and tradeassistants who want to increase their safety awareness on solar installations.
This course covers:
- Preparing to work in the solar industry safely
- Planning and preparing for solar installation
- Evaluating work area requirements including safely working at heights
- Accessing the solar installation work area safely
- Performing and completing non-electrical solar installation work tasks

White Card
CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry (White Card)
This unit of competency specifies the mandatory work health and safety training required to undertake construction work.
On successful completion of the course you will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry and your general construction induction training card (White Card).
This course covers:
- Identifying and orally reporting common construction hazards
- Current legislation and requirements of construction work
- Understanding basic risk control measures
- Identifying procedures for responding to potential incidents and emergencies
- Correctly selecting and fitting common personal protective equipment (PPE) used for construction work

HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid
This short course teaches First Aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills to prepare individuals for emergency situations both in the workplace and day-to-day life.
On successful completion of the course you will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid and meet the minimum workplace requirements for first aid compliance.
This course covers:
- How to respond to an emergency situation
- Application of appropriate first aid procedures, including performing CPR
- Communicating the incident to emergency services

This unit of competency covers fundamental OHS necessary to undertake work tasks within any sector in the construction industry.
